Believe it or not I found a solution to this. i went into the setup page for my router and set it up as an access point and voila, everything that has been terrorizing me for the last three weeks works perfectly. If anyone can find a way to do this without using router as an access point I am all ears but for now I am willing to sacrifice a bit of bandwidth to my neighbors..lol
