The
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 (method 2) fix worked for me, my
symptoms were that all updates, automatic or otherwise, failed to install
with no additional info. In my case SP3 installed as the first and only
update after a new XP Home OEM install on a new PC, no repairs etc.
I would have thought a lot of people would get this problem, should it get
its own thread?
