I also use Acronis True Image Home 11. I use full backups only and
backup to two different locations on a daily basis. The first location is
the Acronis Secure Zone and the second location is to an external HD. I have
an abundance of drive space on my internal drive and two externals for a
total of 1.32TB so I don't have a need for incremental or differential
backups. A full backup is much easier and quicker when it comes to a
restore.
I backup everything and don't use compression, again, because I have an
abundance of drive space. I overwrite the daily full backup every day.
Sometimes I will save and transfer certain full backups to a different
folder if I wish to save that particular configuration. You will have the
option, during the backup setup process, to limit the amount of backups
and/or the drive space allotted for the backups.
You never know when you will not be able to access your internal drive
where your OS is located so I also created the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media
on both a CD and a DVD. Once created, I tested both of them to be certain
they would work if needed. You should also occasionally test one of your
backups so that you know everything is working properly.
