My scheme when starting with Vista was install it apply SP1 and then do a
full backup. You can always start from that point. Then install your
software and get what I called 90% there! Then do another complete backup
noting what you have done. Then install more and get to 100% and do another
full backup and your off and running. I backup fully weekly and don't bother
with inc. backups as I've found they are almost the same size as full and it
doesn't take that much more time to do a complete back up to an external
drive.
