I've read many of the posts on this board, but I'm still unable to solve my
network woes.

Windows XP desktop: installed SP2 and LLTD protocol
Windows Vista laptop: configured as specified in this forum
Both computers share the same work group

Status:
XP can see Vista but cannot access files: "Access denied"
Vista can see XP computer when clicking 'View full map' but cannot see the
computer when exploring the 'Network' tab.

Any thoughts on next steps?
