first of all, WEP is NOT safe. try WPA2 or WPA. after you've made
this change, please post the complete text output of
ipconfig /all
from an elevated command prompt. are you hibernating or shutting
down the laptop? does the router have the latest firmware? what
brand and hardware version router?
