Vista runs much faster than my 3 XP machines... and those 3 machines run
pretty fast.
Vista is running faster than XP in every application including surfing the
net. Yes, I have Vista running on a new machine (more memory, faster
processor boards) and my XP machines are running on slower machines (2-5
years old), but for all the features that Vista offers, XP can't match Vista
in performance.
I am slowly adding software to my Vista machine in case any new software
interferes with Vista OS. Plus this gives me time to explore all the features
of Vista So far no software has given Vista OS any problems. Vista seems to
be able to take care of itself. The only problems I've had so far with Vista
is that the latest Media Player wouldn't properly play some of my old WMV
files that were created by older software on my XP's. (MP couldn't
fastforward the files without error message and crashing MP.) I solved that
problem by downloading GOM player to play any WMV files that the new Media
Player can't do properly. The MP has no problems with movies, vob files and
most of my home videos that I had created on W Movie Maker. Other than that,
Vista has been a champ.
Overall, I'm glad I got Vista. I still use my XP machines because they get
the job done, too. But in the future, I'll phase out my XP machines and will
be moved into Vista.
With a lot of the criticism that is thrown at Vista I think that the
critics' problems stem from faulty hardware or user abuse such as deleting or
changing files that should be left alone.
Viva la Vista...
