The same sort of thing happened to me with VmWare - USB sticks stopped
autoplaying despite turning on autoplay in VmWare and setting the autoplay
options in Vista.

Deleting
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun

sorted it out.

btw
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\CDRom\AutoRun needs to
have a value of 1 for CD/DVDs to autoplay.

The usual warnings apply when diving into the registry ...
