i have uninstalled illustrator and the problem stopped happening- ie- i could go to the folder in windows explorer and it would happily show the .eps files as files and not crash. i have since reinstalled illustrator and now the problem is back- if i view files in explorer, explorer crashes, and if i view or try to open a file whilst in illustrator, illustrator crashes.
i'm not very techy, so don't understand what i'm meant to type in the command box from your instructions about.
and i can't find anything on the adobe website relating to my problems which is frustrating.
