If you configure Automatic Updates to install updates automatically, then they
will do so regardless of which account you are using.
If you prefer to install only updates you have approved, you can still do this
from a standard user account by setting the ElevateNonAdmins registry flag as
described here:

(Ignore the fact that the document talks about WSUS; most of the settings,
including that one, apply equally well to ordinary automatic updates.)
Alternately, you could just log into your administrator account once a week or
so to check for updates.
