I have a strange problem about Internet Explorer 7 and 8. The IE7 could
not display any webpages and gave an error message as "Web page can not
be displayed". I checked the internet connection and it seems that the
connection works fine since I can ping to all websites such as
'www.yahoo.com' (
http://www.yahoo.com), 'www.microsoft.com'
(
http://www.microsoft.com) etc. I ungraded the IE7 to IE8 and also
upgraded the Windows XP service packge 2 to service pack 3, then, the
IE8 worked for one day and then, the same problem come out again. I also
tried to use Firefox, but Firefox have the same problem: only a blank
page shows in Firefox. I tried to follow MS Knowledge Book to fix the
problem, which tells me to register several dlls, but it seems that the
MShtml.dll can not be registered. I don't know if this causes the
problem. I am using Norton Security on this machine. I tried to disable
Norton, but the problem is the same. Can anybody know if there is a
solution for this? Is it going to help if I uninstall IE8 and go back to
IE6? Thanks a lot in advance.
