Re: IE8 "Drop-down" history not showing
Hi,
1. In AutoComplete settings, with only one IE window/one tab open, uncheck
Address Bar. Close IE. Restart the computer. Check Address Bar and other
options. Does that stick?

2. Are you, or is a program clearing the Run history (Start> Run?) This can
delete TypedURLs from the Address Bar.

3. See if a browser add-on is causing the problem.
Start Internet Explorer without add-ons from:
Right-click the IE icon on the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)
If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.

For troubleshooting information see:

4. See if a third-party program is causing the problem.

Windows Vista:

5. Third-party antivirus/antispyware programs should be disabled when
installing Internet Explorer. If they weren't you may have a corrupted
installation of IE8. Reinstalling with these programs disabled may be the
solution.
