Re: Windows Mail attachments won't open after installing IE8
Hi Steve,
to me it's still not clear if you really "opened" the JPGs by clicking
on the attachment icon (paper clip).
The images show fine in/below a message in the preview and still they
may crash.
As said before: It may take a while until the problem appears and JPGs
may be opened fine but crash later. And once they crashed, other file
types may crash too.

The whole thing indeed is a TIF corruption problem but not only that.
There's other factors too - mainly the path specified for running
WinMail.
Changing the path in the StartMenu's shortcut helps (reported by others
too).
And some applications (contrary to the simple error message fro JPGs)
clearly show that the file "C:\Windows\System32\MyFile.ppt" could not be
opened.

And OE-Quotefix seriously affects the situation. Starting WinMail with
OELaunch is a straight route into the problem.
Calling WinMail separately first and then OE Quotefix later mostly is
OK.

Moving the TIF (as you suggested earlier in this thread) has the same
effect as deleting thee "Content.OE5" directories and re-booting or
creating a new user account and working from there.
Things are fine for a while. Using OELaunch again will re-create the
problem.

The whole thing is a mystery.
I'll make a fresh install on my test-machine and try to put together a
comprehensive report.
