A least we found the culprit :-)

An idea (but this is an experiment of course) is to

borrow a bluetooth usb device from someone (if your cellphone has bluetooth)
and try to use a bluetooth connection instead of
a direct cable to the cell phone.

Im thinking about something like this

It seems that the usb driver is creating this problem....
